Carly Fiorina has formally announced her intentions to run for the 2016 Presidential Election from the Republican’s side, on Monday.

The ex-CEO of Hewlett Packard believes that she has what it takes to be the first female president of America. She believes that her tech background coupled with her experience in running one of the top Fortune 20 companies will give her the ‘definitive’ edge over competition. The ex-CEO of HP also didn’t miss the opportunity to take a swing at Hillary Clinton in an attempt to boost her own campaign. Fiorina highlights the numerous blunders that Hillary committed during her bid for the elections, which included the infamous email scandal, taking massive amounts of money to run for the Democrats and of course the Benghazi issue.

Carly is also cleverly trying to use her lack of experience in elected office as a spring-board to launch her campaign.

“We know the only way to re-imagine our government is to re-imagine who is leading it,” was Fiorina’s selling proposition in a video declaring her bid to run for office. She is also trying to leverage her experience of running HP for 6 years, (1999-2005) to convince the voters that she is the right person for the job. Her depth in understanding global economics and technology coupled with her ability to make ‘executive-decisions’ are all the right ingredients required for the ‘Future America’.

However, experts believe that Fiorina’s ‘tainted’ history at HP might come back to bite her and might even cause her the race all-together. Although she was responsible for guiding the company through troubled times in the early 2000s, but her decisions to right-size the organization which resulted in laying off 30,000 people and the merger with Compaq earned her a lot of negative rep. And the final nail in the coffin was her forced resignation in 2005 which led many to believe she had ‘failed’ her job as the head of one of HP.

Given the ‘baggage’ that Carly Fiorina is carrying, it might get increasingly difficult for her as the competition tightens.

Fiorina will be in New York this Tuesday, to address the public in her first appearance as candidate.
