Republican Presidential Candidate hopeful Jeb Bush branded the ‘Net Neutrality’ as a craziest idea. He was talking about the net neutrality for the first time as he criticized President Barack Obama for his stance on internet regulation. Mr. Bush said, “The idea of regulating access to the internet with a 1934 law is one of the craziest ideas I've ever heard”, as he was referring to the Communication Act 1934 which stated, “Interstate and foreign commerce in communication by wire and radio so as to make available, so far as possible, to all the people of the United States ... a rapid, efficient, nationwide, and worldwide wire and radio communication service with adequate facilities at reasonable charges, for the purpose of national defense”. The communication act was created by the former President Franklin D. Roosevelt. In that time the authorities believed that, they need to monitor the communication technology in order to regulate and monitor certain states, carriers and consumers. It was also created so that consumers don’t face any price discriminations. The law provides a level playing field for new business and established brands. According to Bush, the President “steamrolled” the FCC into endorsing new rules. He also suggested that, FCC had lost legitimacy over this ruling. He said, the Congress should act to reverse the ruling. But some established brands believe that, the law played an important role in the beginning and was used as a foundation to have a level playing field for all competitors. But they are also accusing that the law is delaying the development of new communication technologies. Market analysts said, though FCC wants to regulate the communication sector with the new law; established companies, lobbyists and politicians like Bush will keep fighting against the law. It was previously reported that, two weeks ago the FCC voted 3-2 to “regulate broadband internet and ban companies from creating ‘fast lanes’ to prioritize some content over others”. Major Cable companies are against the ruling as well as many Republican politicians. They said, the current administration is trying to interfere and regulate the internet.
