According to the report from the NFL league, Michael Sam, the first openly gay person to be selected in the NFL draft, says he is not the only gay player in the league.
He recently said at a Q&A session in Dallas was speaking about the sexual orientation of other players in the NFL. He said in a statement, “I am not the only gay person in the NFL”. He also says that there are some famous gay players in the game. I’m just saying there are some famous people, and I’m not the only one.” Sam says several players, who he will not reveal, have contacted him regarding their sexual orientation. He also said in the another speech Sam also claims that players came out to him in confidence following last year’s draft, and he made it clear that he will continue to respect their anonymity.
Sam, the former SEC co-defensive player of the year at Missouri, was taken by the Rams in the seventh round of the 2014 draft but did not make the team.
Regarding to the recent data, Sam fastest unofficial time from Sunday’s combine, held at the Arizona Cardinals’ practice facility was 5.07 seconds. At the NFL scouting combine in 2014, he ran the 40 in 4.91 seconds.
To the report from Sam said in Dallas on Thursday, “I’m just saying there are a lot of us. I respect the players that did reach out to me and had the courage to tell me that they were also gay, but they do not have the same courage as I do to come out before I even played a down in the NFL.
He was in the seventh round of the 2014 draft by the St. Louis. However, Sam never made the team and was later released by the Dallas Cowboys in October, after joining their practice squad. While Sam continues to look for a job in the NFL, he’s earning his money in another way.
In addition, Sam, the first openly gay player to be drafted into the NFL, is competing in Dancing with the Stars 20. He is currently without a team and participated in the NFL experts Combine last Sunday.
