N-Trig purchase, revealed Surface specs heighten hype around upcoming Surface tablets

Microsoft will soon release its Surface Pro 4 range of tablet devices, with people expecting a great range of features from this new line. A Chinese website has claimed that the new tablets will be fitted with the fifth generation of Intel’s Broadwell processors and not the Core M used for previous iterations of the tablet. Heat will be managed by a fanless design apparently, with the excess warmth being channeled through small orifices meant to dissipate heat.

Moreover, the latest acquisition of the digital stylus technology known as N-trig by Microsoft has set tongues wagging. The cost of obtaining this new technology set the company back by about $30 million. It is already being used for the company’s Surface 3 tablets and, while still not perfect, the acquisition signals Microsoft’s determination to remain in the portable device market with it now developing the stylus technology personally.

Other than that, the Surface Pro 4 is supposed to be thinner than its predecessor, but not necessarily lighter, with a larger 12 inch screen and a native 1260×1440 resolution along with a pixel density of 216 ppi. Windows 10 is thought to be the standard OS for this range of tablets, bringing its own set of aesthetic and functional changes. There might also be choices regarding the size with variations greater or smaller than the 12 inch version. Accessory support will also be available, with accessories for previous devices being compatible with the new generation of the Surface tablets.

The heat radiation may be a hurdle Microsoft is yet to overcome, as the Intel Core i processors are not as efficient at heat dissipation as the company’s Atom or Core M variants.

However, one must remember that all this is still speculation without any official announcement from Microsoft’s end, but the information seems to have been provided through reliable channels with the editor-in-chief of Windows Central getting in touch with the Chinese site that had originally furnished the information and being told that it is accurate.
