The US News and World Report releases best high school rankings, acknowledges many

schoolMore than 6,500 public high schools received a gold, silver or bronze medal in the U.S. News rankings. Many different kinds of schools are among those recognized in the 2015 Best High Schools rankings has been released. U.S. News looked at more than 29,000 public high schools in all 50 states and the District of Columbia to determine which schools excelled in each state and nationally.

Lincoln College Preparatory Academy, an area school in Missouri has been named as the best high school in the state. US News & World Report has released its highly anticipated annual ranking of Best High Schools in the US they learned about the ranking from it on Monday.

While topping its ranking in Missouri, Lincoln Prep has been ranked as the 67th best high school in the country. The rankings of these schools have been based on how well the students performed on state assessments and how well they are prepared for college.

A student of Lincoln Prep, Uziel Pecina said, “I’m really inspired by it because that means I need to do more for my school, and I want to achieve more than what I’ve already achieved.”

The school consists of 89% of minority students and 72% of them are from homes which are considered as economically underprivileged.

Dougherty Valley High School in San Ramon has also garnered a striking list of accolades, ranking as the 29th best schools in California and earning itself Gold Award.

Students in Dougherty Valley High School have the opportunity to take Advanced Placement course work and exams with an AP participation rate of 74%. The student body makeup is 53% male and 47% female, and the total minority enrollment is 80%.

This has been the fourth year that U.S. News has compiled a list of the top high schools. It is based on student performance on state-required tests; how the schools educated their “least-advantaged” students, including blacks, Hispanics and those from low-income backgrounds; and how well schools prepared students for college based on participation in and performance on Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate exams.
