A 2-year-old boy had suffered injuries after falling into a cheetah pit at an exhibit at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, according to officials.
Authorities from Cleveland Metroparks have stated that the boy’s parents had been unable to get the toddler out after the incident of him falling in the pit on Saturday afternoon. The cheetahs had no interaction with him and fortunately did not come to attack the boy either. The boy had been injured and hurt his leg while falling down and had been taken to the hospital. It has been reported that he is in a stable condition now.
The incident happened as the mother was dangling the child in the cheetah pit and lost control which lead to the toddler falling off. She had been seen with her other kid right beside her according to eye witnesses.
The Zoo’s executive director, Christopher Kuhar stated that a number of eyewitness reports “point to the strong likelihood that the child was dangled” over the enclosure’s railing.” The child endangerment case charged against the parents will be filed on Monday, according to reports from the officials.
Michael Lurie, an eye witness said that while he had been looking at the cheetahs all of sudden all he could here were the screams.
“Everything happened so quick,” he stated. “I was just shocked.”
