3D printed cars are going to hit the roads sooner than you think

3D printing hasn’t really caught on around the world yet but it has managed to prove that it is a wonderful piece of tech. It has been quite useful as far as medicine is concerned and has also proven beneficial for space travel.

But even though this technology is still relatively new, it continues to show innovative ways of manufacturing almost anything. For example, 3D-printed cars seem to be the next thing that is going to come out of these printers.

The first car to be 3D-printed is known as the “Reload Redacted Swim/Sport.” This car is going to have interchangeable, customizable and sleek parts which can be arranged over and over again in order to meet the owner’s tastes & lifestyles. This design has been given by a mechanical engineer, Kevin Lo, based out of Vancouver, WA who had won a contest earlier in this year.

As the winner of the competition, he was given, $ 7500 along with any royalties from all future sales of this design.

As far as the design is concerned, Lo said that you can quite easily change the appearance of the car drastically and make it fun, track-ready or sporty. The speakers are on the outside of this car and he believes that will help it capture everyone’s attention.

As of now, the 1st models of this vehicle are set to retail anywhere between $ 18000 & $ 30000 which will be the cost of a low-speed neighborhood car.

It appears that Lo is doing something correct since his design had been chosen by a panel which consisted of auto professionals accompanied by the car geek, Jay Leno. Leno said that he was looking for something that could make him go and that’s why he chose this car. He likes the fact that it is fun, sporty and commutable.

You can’t really expect any bigger an endorsement now can you?
