Homer Simpson predicted the Higgs boson theory 14 years in advance – Science author claimsHomer Simpson is more famous for his love for doughnuts in comparison to Mathematics and in a 1998 episode of the popular American TV series “The Simpsons” named “The Wizard of Evergreen Terrace” he was seen working on an equation in front of the blackboard. This particular equation was about the mass of Higgs boson and science author Simon Singh believes that Homer has found it before the CERN scientists could.

This equation forecasts the mass of the Higgs boson and Singh says that “If you work it out, you get the mass of a Higgs boson that’s only a bit larger than the nano-mass of a Higgs boson actually is. It’s kind of amazing as Homer makes this prediction 14 years before it was discovered.”

Singh is one of the authors of “The Simpsons and their Mathematic Secrets” and according to Singh “The Simpsons is the most mathematical TV show on prime-time television in history. A lot of the writers on The Simpsons are mathematicians.”

Singh is a PhD holder with a degree in particle physics and has earned his doctorate degree from Cambridge University and CERN Geneva.

Along with strongly claiming that the Simpsons were the first to discover the God’s particle, this science author also mentioned that he looks forward to the inspiration that can be stirred in the youth of the 21st century and followers of the show by the creator’s enthusiastic feeling on the subject as well as the discovery which took place on a TV show to one’s surprise.

In 1960, Peter Higgs explained the way some particles got mass and named it the Higgs boson. This theory was not established till the year 2010. According to Higgs theory, Higgs particles are everywhere, something which took quite some time for scientists to confirm. The first time Higgs Boss was studied and observed was with the assistance of the Large Hadron Collider of CERN.

  1. Wow, I saw the scientist who watches the Simpsons, he even showed how to work the equazion, Homer came within 5 decimal places. He even showed how he started to suspect that someone on the Simpsons us of loved Science. Showed a few episodes that were really great stuff. I always loved cartoon. One of my favorites was Leg Horn Foghorn, and his taking on the Boy Genius, who was widow Hen Son.

  2. I am pretty annoyed that nowhere in this article is there any mention of the highly intelligent writers that worked on The Simpsons. Most of them held Ivy League degrees from the likes of Yale, Harvard, and MIT. Surely you should be giving the writers of this episode more credit than the fictional character for which they wrote this as a joke.

  3. Well come on… he works at a Nuclear power plant. He had plenty of time to think about sub atomic particles over donuts and coffee, and the gumption to experiment with the nuclear physics on break. :)

  4. The Simpsons is for creepy dudes who came from family’s of all boys that married clones of their mother. Trust me

  5. What i don’t understood is in reality how you are no longer actually
much more neatly-favored than you might be right now.
You’re so intelligent. You recognize therefore
considerably in relation to this topic, produced me for my part consider it from so many various angles.
Its like women and men don’t seem to be fascinated until it

All the time care for it up!

  6. Makes no sense….if that was the case, why did they simply not publish such an important finding? Somebody’s wires are crossed
