Actor Harrison Ford was injured after a 1940`s plane he was piloting had crashed into a golf field.U.S. actor Harrison Ford got hospitalized after a 1940`s plane he was piloting had crashed into a golf field. It was suggested that he was trying to make an emergency landing in the course.

In a statement Ford`s publicist Ina Treciokas said, “Harrison was flying a WW2 vintage plane today which had engine trouble upon takeoff. He had no other choice but to make an emergency landing, which he did safely. He was banged up and is in the hospital receiving medical care. The injuries sustained are not life threatening, and he is expected to make a full recovery”.

Aviation authorities said, the 72-years old actor reported engine problem and crash landed in his vintage plane on Penmar Golf Course. It was reported that just after taking off from Santa Monica airport, he reported an engine failure in his 1942 Ryan Aeronautical ST3KR and asked for permission for an immediate return. Authorities said, he couldn’t make it to the runway and crash-landed on the course.

He was taken to the hospital after the incident with several cuts in his neck and head. In a statement fire department spokesperson said, the pilot suffered moderate trauma but remained alert and conscious. They also said the patient’s situation is “fair to moderate”. It was reported that, Ford`s son Ben Ford is with him in the hospital.

In his tweet Ben said, “Dad is ok. Battered, but ok! He is every bit the man you would think he is. He is an incredibly strong man”. Areal footage in several media`s showed the wrecked plan on a golf course.

In the statement the officials also confirmed that the plan was flying at about 3,000 feet (900m) and hit a tree when it crash landed on the golf course. Onlookers said, they heard a sound like a car hit a tree or a ground when the accident happened. But authorities said, he actually saved several lives by not crashing it into any populated area. In a statement Christian Fry from Santa Monica Airport Association said, “It was an absolutely beautifully executed emergency landing by an unbelievably well-trained pilot”.
