Geneva Open 2015: Bellucci, Sousa move on to the final

In the Geneva open final, Thomaz Bellucci of Brazil advanced to the Geneva Open final on Friday and will play Joao Sousa of Portugal for the title.

Bellucci, career-high singles ranking of World No. 21 in July 2010 & twice a champion at Switzerland is other clay-court event in Gstaad, eased past Santiago Giraldo of Colombia 6-3, 6-4.

 

On the other side, the sixth-seeded Sousa beat Federico Delbonis of Argentina 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 in the other semifinal.

The Brazilian has not featured in a title decider since October 2012, when he lost to Andreas Seppi at the Kremlin Cup, while he last tasted glory at the Swiss Open three months earlier.

Bellucci will now meet sixth seed Joao Sousa in the final - the Portuguese winning 6-3 2-6 6-4 against Federico Delbonis.

After win the match, Brazilian professional tennis player said in a statement, “This is my favorite place to play, actually,” said Bellucci. “The court condition for me, I like it. For my serve, it is good as well. Maybe I feel very relaxed here.”

According to the report, it is the fourth ATP World Tour final for Sousa (1-2 record) and his first since Metz in 2014. He captured his maiden title in 2013 at Kuala Lumpur.
