According to the latest WhatsApp update, ‘all the Android users could easily use Google Drive now to restore and backup on WhatsApp.’ Further, the update also stated that all the Android users could also save chat logs and receive photos but this development in WhatsApp is unable to backup the videos up till now.

Owned by the Facebook, this instant messaging platform has gained its position as one of the worlds’s widely used instant messaging services. WhatsApp is used by the people all over to the world to send free of charge instant messages, through the internet. This app is currently available on Android, Blackberry, Windows phone and iOS devices.

According to the latest posts of Jan Koum on Facebook, WhatsApp has currently reached the number of 800 million worldwide users monthly. The CEO of WhatsApp further stated that WhatsApp has now started its own voice calling services in order to outrank the services of Viber and Skype.

Now according to the recent developments, all the Android users are getting this post from WhatsApp that now you could easily backup and restore the photos and chat logs on WhatsApp using the Google Drive.

Available inside the WhatsApp version 2.12.45, now you can easily find the option of Google Drive on your Android. All you have to do is to enter the WhatsApp “settings” menu, and then you are going to enter the “chat backup” section located in it. In order to activate the Google Drive option, all you have to do is to login with your Google account after selecting your backup frequency. The settings would also require you to specify whether you wish to use the option of backup on Wi-Fi only or cellular data connection and Wi-Fi.

“You’ll then have to wait for 4:00 am when WhatsApp usually does its daily backup for the magic to happen,” explains Android police, which first spotted the update.”If you’re impatient, you can initiate it by tapping the top Back up now option.”

Afterwards, the WhatsApp would make a local backup at first and then would upload it to the Google Drive. Although, most of the things are unclear about this latest update but still this update has already begun rolling out via Google Play.
