WWE Extreme Rules failed to meet even the humblest of expectations from fans. But the WWE is trying really hard to bounce back with the Payback pay-per-view. Even though the WWE is having a hard time getting people excited about their superstars nowadays, there are a few X-factors which people may be willing to pay money to watch at this pay-per-view.
Whether it is Roman Reigns or Bray Wyatt or Rusev, everyone is looking at these fresh faces to make an impact. So let’s take a look at what to expect in May’s PPV:
- Rusev should have regained his US championship at Extreme Rules but there’s nothing we can do about that now. The only way for the WWE to salvage this situation would be to make Cena “quit” at Payback. Unfortunately, getting Cena to utter those words will be next to impossible. But if Rusev loses again, he will unnecessarily appear weak and may just spell the end for his character altogether. It doesn’t matter how, but Rusev just has to pick up this victory to keep people interested.
- Even though Roman Reigns has a long way to go before he can become proficient with the mic, he still manages to win fans every time he enters the ring. His performance against the Big Show was outstanding and even though he will have to take on two of the WWE’s top performers in Rollins and Orton, he should be able to put on quite the show even if the writers don’t let him win the title just yet.
- Bray Wyatt has seems to have withered into the shadows ever since his loss to the Undertaker at Wrestlemania 31 and didn’t even have a match at Extreme Rules. But he will be taking on Ryback at Payback and this performance will surely go a long way in determining how far he goes in the WWE. There is no doubting his mic skills and he can definitely put on a show. But if his in-ring skills are not the best, he will not go too far.
