They have announced the news and are implementing stricter rules for insurers. Approved by the FDA, it is mandatory for the insurers to cover 18 free forms of contraception.
Moreover, the insurers will be unable to change cancer risky patients, already connected with colonoscopies for anesthesia.
Patients are not charged, additionally, with most of its insurance plans covering preventive care. This is included in the health care law of President Barack Obama. The various types of services that are covered in a government advisory panels are birth control pills and other contraceptives.
It has been recently identified that there are cracks for some birth control methods. The insurers in reply said that they were conforming to the implemented law. However, the feds did not deliver further details on this.
Cindy Pearson, who is the Executive director of National Women’s Health Network have stated that these issues regarding insurance plans for contraception are a problem for women.
Many other services without copays include:
- BRCA Testing and genetic counseling with increased risk of having harmful mutation in suppressing cancerous tumors by preventive screening for women.
- Ensuring healthy pregnancies by prenatal care.
- Preventive services for people of transgender. E.g. – Transgender men having residual breast tissue.
Insurers, on birth control will need to offer one no-cost option for each approved category, by FDA. The rule includes hormonal patches, birth control pills and IUDs and morning pills as well. If a woman’s doctor prescribes an expensive alternative which is medically essential, it has to be in there, in the insurance plan without a copay.
The new regulations against notorious insurance billing is that, the patients are not to be billed a copay for anesthesia while a colonoscopy is in process.
The HHS said that, if it is determined that the individual is medically required with the anesthesia, the issuer cannot impose any bill to all those anesthesia services performed with the preventive colonoscopy.
The new regulations on the insurers will be in effect in 60 days and majority of the consumers will be unnoticed of the changes in their plans until the renew of coverage takes place for 2016.
Christian companies have denounced the abortion inducing drugs and said that it violates the religious consciences. The warning from HHS is evident that Obama Administration is completely alright in driving the government between the Christians and their faith.
