The famous hip hop artist and rapper Nelly has been taken into custody after being faced with felony drug charges in Putnam County on Saturday morning.

Tennessee Highway Patrol have stated in a news release that Nelly, real name Cornell Haynes, had been pulled over at about 9:20 a.m. as the private bus that he had been on with 5 other individuals had been unsuccessful in displaying a U.S. Department of Transportation and International Fuel Tax association sticker.

The release troopers have said that they have smelled marijuana when they reached the bus.

Upon searching the bus, the troopers discovered 5 rocks which tested positive for meth along with a small amount of marijuana and the drug paraphernalia.

Along with confiscating drugs, they have found several handguns from the vehicle.

The 40 year old St. Louis native is now facing charges which include felony possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Nelly and the rest of the people had been transported to Putnam County Jail. Nelly had been released on a $10,000 bond and has been scheduled to appear in court on June 19th.

Back in 2012, Nelly had been involved in similar kinds of activities in the United States, when Texas authorities found marijuana, heroin as well as a loaded gun on the tour bus of the rapper. The singer had been released when the members of his entourage claimed responsibility for all the illegal items that has been confiscated from the bus. This case does not look too different either.

His lawyer said in a statement that “there had been 15-20 people that had access to the bus prior to the stop.”
