Brandon Wynn, 35, has been arrested along with a juvenile for the kidnap and attempted murder of a 13 months old baby, Penelope Rodriguez in California. Baby Penelope was kidnapped from a Motel 6 in Palmdale, California; and according to her mother, it happened after she herself was kidnapped, sexually assaulted, and left naked in Lake Los Angeles, a desert community about 27 miles east of Palmdale.
An Amber Alert was issued to look for the baby. It had been almost nine hours when a neighbour called who heard the baby crying around 3pm Saturday afternoon. Penelope was in a shed on Avenue T-8 and 43rd Street in Palmdale, where she was found dehydrated but unharmed, according to Los Angeles County sheriff Lt. Joseph Fender.
At first, Jonathan Holmes, 38, was suspected to have kidnapped Baby Penelope and so the Amber Alert was issued to look out for a brown BMW but, later the detectives said that he was not involved and a blue Ford Contour was actually the one driven by the alleged kidnapper. Sheriff’s officials gave conflicting information about details in the Amber Alert.
This story has yet to discover the truth and the evidence with complex statements from involved parties. Her mother seems to have called to report, stating the baby went missing around 6.30pm. Sheriff Fender stated that the arrested men kidnapped her and then returned to Motel 6 for Penelope. The mother’s suspected attacker told her he was going back to the motel to take care of the baby. Sheriff’s deputies say the child was last seen wearing a yellow onesie, before the kidnap.
Authorities also say that baby Penelope’s mother and Jonathan Holmes, the initial suspect, seemed to have been sharing a room at the motel however, the nature of their relationship has not been revealed yet.
