Windows 10 will be released by end of July according to AMD CEO

During AMD’s quarter earnings call on Friday, CEO Lisa Su may have accidentally revealed the launch timing of Windows 10.

While answering a question from an analyst, Su was quoted as saying, “What we also are factoring in is, you know, the Windows 10 launch at the end of July, we are watching sort of the impact of that on the back-to-school season, and expect that it might have a bit of a delay to the normal back-to-school season inventory build-up.”

Microsoft on the other hand has not announced any specific release date for Windows 10, other than a vague ‘summer-release’. The only concrete commentfromMicrosoft Chief, Terry Myerson came last month, “We continue to make great development progress and shared today that Windows 10 will be available this summer in 190 countries and 111 languages.”

More details regarding Windows 10 release is expected during Microsoft’s Build event which is due later this month.

Su’s comments also suggest that AMD is looking to get Windows 10 on their laptops as early as possible to make inroads in the market.

Microsoft has been working tirelessly to produce a new version of Windows which will address the issues found in Windows 8. This version is expected to produce a much more cohesive environment for all devices ranging from PCs to smart phones. Windows 10 also brings back the famed Start menu, a feature that was sorely missed in the previous version. In addition to a host of enhancements and tweaks in its features, Windows 10 is expected to introduce Spartan, a new browser which will bring a new approach to web browsing.

With just around 3 months left till the July deadline, it seems quite unlikely that Windows 10 will hit the market, given the volume of bugs and unfinished features still found in the OS.
