This week’s Monday Night RAW gave us a glimpse of how good it can be. No, it didn’t have a huge main event and Bret Hart was the only WWE legend on the show. But the show will forever be remembered as one of the best and that is simply because of one name, John Cena. But it wasn’t him in the spotlight this time, it was his opponent, Sami Zayn. That’s right, the former NXT champion made his RAW debut against Cena and the duo had a match worthy of the “this is awesome” chant from the WWE Universe. Both superstars hit their signature finishers but failed to pick up the victory. It was only when Cena hit his second Attitude Adjustment of the night that the match was over.
The night started off with the New Day taking on Reigns and Orton after interrupting them. They managed to pick up the victory after Reigns speared Orton by mistake. But Kane came out and announced that Reigns and Orton were going to fight it out in the main event before things got out of hand.
Tyson Kidd and Cesaro pick up a victory over the Ascension in a match that left a lot to be desired.
Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose carried on their fresh rivalry from Smackdown with another match against each other. But this time, there was a stipulation. If Ambrose won, he would be a part of the Payback ppv main event. And that’s exactly what happened, even with interference from J&J security, Ambrose still managed to pick up the victory with a roll up.
The match between Rusev and Fandango only had one purpose and that was to prove how dominating Rusev really is. R-Truth vs Stardust was a weird match with Stardust picking up the win without having to do too much.
While the Bella Twins were walking to the ring for their match they were attacked by Naomi and Tamina Snuka. After a super kick to Nikki, Tamina announces that the Bellas aren’t going to be running the diva’s division anymore.
King Barrett appeared in his first match as King this week on RAW too. It was a tag team match that put Barrett and Sheamus up against Ziggler and Neville. It was a fast paced match with a lot of back and forth action. But Barrett managed to pick up the win for his team with a Bull Hammer to Neville.
In the main event, the authority was at ringside while Orton and Reigns took on each other. The match ended in a no contest when the authority, as expected, interrupted and started beating up Reigns and Orton. But Dean Ambrose came in to save the day. They cleared the ring of the authority before Reigns speared Rollins. This was followed up with Orton RKO’ing Reigns and the night ended with Ambrose hitting Dirty Deeds on Orton.
