12 year old linked with a deadly shooting - Suspect in custody

A 12-year-old Jarell Milton was arrested Tuesday night in Minneapolis, Minnesota, suspected in connection with a lethal shooting in Omaha, Nebraska. Reporters stated that the boy will be charged with first-degree murder.

Neighborhoods have been facing increased criminal activities in the the state of Omaha, Nebraska, for a while with the current fatal shooting allegedly carried out by a 12-year-old boy - the latest case being linked to gangs-wars.

U.S. Marshals Metro Fugitive Task Force members in Omaha stated that Jarrell was in Minneapolis. They carried out surveillance at numerous residences and identified Jarrell walking outside and took him into custody at 11:30 p.m.

Earlier in the week, Jarrell’s brother, 17-year-old Jamar Milton, and 15-year-old Shuntayvious Primes-WIllis were being arrested and were seen in the Douglas County Court Tuesday afternoon.

Police did not report on how the 12-year-old got to Minnesota and did not notify of anyone connected in helping him get there. The boy was tracked by the U.S. Marshals Office and Minnesota’s Fugitive Task Force. Jamar will be transferred back to Omaha and will face first-degree murder charges.

It has been reported that Jarrell’s mother, Iyannia Moss, was previously convicted for felony assault when Jarrell was an infant. According to court files, Moss gave birth to seven children and while she was doing her time in prison, all of her children were residing in an Omaha foster home. The children’s father, 37-year-old Javaris Milton, is currently serving a 30-year prison sentence in Minnesota for a 2010 murder.

Prosecutors with the Douglas County Attorney’s Office reported that the boys were arranging a meeting with Ray and his friend, 30-year-old Charles Fisher, for a drug deal in Miller Park near North 24th Street and Redick Avenue during the shootout. Both Ray and Fisher were injured by the gunfire. Ray was unable to survive and died from his injuries while Fisher was provided treatment and was later released from the hospital.
