North Carolina shark attacks are becoming dangerous day by day.

In the light of so many shark involving events, this catch does not come as too much of a surprise. Halfway into the year and North Carolina alone has witnessed at least 6 shark attacks, according to George Burgess, the director of the Shark Attack.

In general, the state usually sees one or two such incidents a year, said Frank Schwarts, a shark biologist with the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill.

Fishermen Glen Hopkins has said, ‘It’s really heart wrenching when you catch a $1,000 fish, and you can’t get it to the boat. It’s nothing but a chunk of mangled up meat. Some sets we don’t get a fish back. We might catch 25 or 30 heads. Pieces where everything is gone. It’s literally costing thousands and thousands out of my pocket.”

Britton Shackelford, another fisherman has said that the predators ‘are just following the boat’ and he sometimes sees thousands of sharks when he is out on the water. ‘At least two-thirds of your catch is going to be eaten before it ever gets to the boat.’

The shark that has been caught was about 6.5 feet long and was released back into the ocean.

“We can never guarantee anyone’s safety when they enter the water,” David Hallac, superintendent of the Outer Banks Group of the NPS, said in a statement. “The only way to be sure you do not encounter sharks, or other marine wildlife that may be harmful to humans, is to stay out of the water.”
