Super Stallion Marine helicopter makes a safe emergency landing in Solana Beach, California Military officials have reported that a marine helicopter has made a precautionary landing just yards away from the ocean in Solana Beach on Wednesday morning.

The CH-53E Super Stallion’s pilot made an emergency landing on the beach close to Del Mar Shores after the chopper received a low oil pressure indicator at around 11:40 a.m., according to a Marine official. The landing had been made in an elongated beach which is less than a mile of Fletcher Cove Beach Park.

There had been fluid leaking from the helicopter which the hazardous materials team had been called for to clean up. The helicopter had not been damaged; apart from the malfunction and the people aboard had not been injured either, as stated by a Del Mar lifeguard.

The aircraft is repaired by mechanics so that it can be flown back to Marine Corps Air Station in Miramar, as Marine Sgt. Frances Goch said. It is assigned to Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 466.

Deputies and lifeguard had assisted in keeping people away from the helicopter while it was being repaired. It had been flown to the Del Mar fairgrounds for an initial inspection.
