The new Audi R8 is here. It’s time to put the pedal to the metal

Are you ready to rumble? The latest version of the aptly named rabid car is going to be available soon. But are people ready for the brand new Audi R8?

You should be prepared for all your expectations to be blown away. The Audi R8 V10 Plus comes with a 5.2 liter V10 engine and has the capacity to deliver a mind boggling 610 horsepower with 560 Nm of torque. All of this helps you reach 60 mph in a meagre 3.2 seconds.

The regular version of the car will take 0.3 seconds longer and has 540 horsepower. Both Audi’s have top speeds of 200 mph. Even though the difference is slight with the Plus going up to 205 mph, reviewers claim it can be felt.

Among the first things to strike you when driving this car is that it shares a number of parts with the R8 which won at Le Mans. It has been developed by the same team which worked on the Le Mans car.

This means that the car would do just fine in an endurance race as well. It’s just the kind of race the guys (former) from Top Gear would subject it to. And it’s quite obvious that it would pass with flying colors.

There are a few surprising aspects to the car though. It basically depends on how it is driven. Reviewers claim that it behaves well at low speeds too. And even though you feel the rumbling each time you step on the gas, it is quite manageable.

The virtual cockpit is another interesting feature. It was previously used in the TT and Q7. It’s a computer which wouldn’t have any trouble running the latest PS4 games but instead it shows you facts such as speedo and tach numbers which are measured around 60 times each second. It also has a Google Maps powered GPS which will ensure you never get lost.

The R7 is looking very good and starts at $ 180,000 for the base while the Plus will cost around $ 205,000.
