After being in a shooting, two police officers from Mississippi have died after being shot in the line of duty, according to a coroner late Saturday.

Officers Benjamin Deen, 34, and Liquori Tate 25, had been killed in the shootings as stated by Forest County Coroner Butch Benedict. The officers had been taken to Forest General Hospital where they had been declared dead by the hospital authorities.

The two officers had been fatally shot following a traffic stop in the Southern Mississippi city of Hattiesburg and the two suspects have fled the scene, according to law enforcement officials.

Law enforcement officials said they had been in search of Curtis and Marvin banks possibly having connection to the killings of the officers. They are both believed to be Hattiesburg residents.

Warren Strain, a spokesman for the Mississippi Department of Public Safety, said one officer stopped a 2000 Gold Cadillac Escalade in an industrial corridor at about 8:30 p.m. CDT Saturday; a second officer arrived to assist him and shots were fired.

According to the paper, it has been reported that early Sunday morning Marvin Banks had been arrested. Curtis Banks still have not been captured by law enforcement authorities.

Johnny DuPree, Hattiesburg Mayor has said that the police are on the search of the suspects and has also urged residents to stay inside their homes while the manhunt is ongoing.

DuPree told the reporters outside the local Forest General Hospital that, “The men and women who go out every day to protect us, the men and woman who go out every day to make sure that we’re safe, they were turned on (Saturday) night.”

This has been the first time in the last 30 years that Hattiesburg officers have died in the line of duty.
