laA blaze had broken out on Tuesday at a Los Angeles commercial building. Firefighter has rescued two people by climbing up a ladder after the accident took place.

The fire started at about 7:45 p.m. in the top floor of the building and about 170 firefighters from 30 companies have responded to the scene of fire. A chopper had been flying above the scene to provide light to the firefighters working on the roof. Numerous firefighters moved from one floor to the other in search of people being trapped inside.

Fire crews found Ricardo Molina and his Vivian in the building at the 1500 block of West Olympic Boulevard in the city’s Westlake District during their search. When he saw the smoke thickening, Ricardo called 911 immediately.

“I had to open all the windows because we were suffocating,” Ricardo Molina said. “I thought we were going to die.”

Vivian Molina had been reached by firefighters at first, who brought her down six stories to safety. Her husband had been rescued next.

Officials have informed that while battling the blaze, one firefighter had been injured. The cause of fire is still being investigated by fire officials.

The building did not have any sprinklers, which is legal, given the age of the building, officials stated.
