Six people had been shot with two being fatally wounded at a dispute outside a Brooklyn funeral home leading to gunfire on Monday night while a funeral was in progress.
At around 8:40 pm outside of Emanuel Church of God at 1365 Flatbush Ave the shooting had taken place. The motive behind the shooting is still not known although NYC Police Department Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce stated preliminarily the shooting didn’t seem to be gang related and the department’s system of high-frequency radios designed for detecting gunshots picked up 15 rounds.
“People were shooting in front of the location toward the church and out from the church,” he said, which indicates that two groups have fired shots. Further details are still being looked into.
3 suspects have been described by witnesses, all three of them in their 20s seen fleeing the location in perhaps in a silver SUV. All three of them had been in white T-shirts with only one of them with a blue NY Yankees baseball cap, according to a law-enforcement official.
Alcides Perez, 31 had been attending the funeral of Jose Robles, 38, and just stepped out for a moment when the shooting incident took place.
“I was in a glaze,” said Perez. “I started hearing fire, so I just ran south. The street was full of people, running this way and that.”
Perez luckily escaped the scene and took shelter in a juice bar only to return to the scene and finding two men lying there.
“One was face down, the other was on his back,” he said. “I tried to give [one of them] first aid, but the first responder told me he’d take care of it. I saw his eyes roll back.”
The police said that victims included two women and four men.
The two dead in the incident had been a 40-year-old man who was shot in the stomach and a 44-year-old man who was shot in the chest, both of them being declared dead at Kings County Hospital Center about a half-hour after the shooting.

A 39-year-old man had been shot on his left hand and a 40-year-old man shot in his abdomen is currently in a critical condition. The other three were in stable condition.
