Prize money is increasing by 7 percent at Wimbledon this year, with 1.88 million pounds ($2.85 million) going to the men’s and women’s singles champions. The richest prize in tennis continues to be at the U.S Open where, going on current exchange rates, the winner last year got £1.96 million.

for the rising of the prize money, The singles winners’ prize funds have risen seven per cent from £1.76million in 2014; in the last four years, Wimbledon’s overall prize fund has jumped from £14.6million in 2011 to £26.75million in 2015.

On the other report, Wimbledon bosses have also pledged to keep the tournament on free-to-air broadcasting “in the foreseeable future”.

Organizers say the prize fund will be “the highest ever in professional tennis,” surpassing last year’s U.S. Open purse of $38.25 million. The total prize money for singles is going up by 8 percent.

In a statement, All England Club chairman Philip Brook at a news conference, means the singles champions will each pocket 1.88 million pounds compared to the 1.76 million handed to Novak Djokovic and Petra Kvitova in 2014.
