Some deputies from the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office said Saturday that a missing two-year-old and his father had been found in Greenville, North Carolina. Reports said, this missing 2-year-old boy and his bipolar father turned up roughly 200 miles south of their Central Virginia home on Saturday before North Carolina authorities discovered them during a traffic stop in Greenville.
Jason Pollard, 24, and his son Jameson had vanished Thursday after leaving their home in Hanover near the capital city of Richmond that afternoon.
The North Carolina State Police found the boy in “good health” but arrested the father for speeding, driving under the influence, open container of alcohol, no child restraint, child endangerment and child neglect after pulling him over in the eastern North Carolina town. Law enforcement officials are currently bringing the child back home to his mother, according to the sheriff’s office. His mother was on her way to reunite with him Saturday night.
Deputies assumed 24-year-old Pollard may have been experiencing symptoms of a mental illness. Receiving the missing complain in the Facebook page of Hanover County sheriff’s office, Virginia State Police and Virginia Missing Children Clearinghouse issued an endangered missing child media alert for Jameson Friday on behalf of the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said Pollard and Jameson checked into the Clarion Inn & Suites at 1809 West Mercury Boulevard in Hampton Thursday night. The father and son checked out Friday night just before 9 p.m.
A desk manager at the hotel told 13News Now Pollard paid cash for their room. She added that Hampton police officers were there Saturday afternoon asking questions. They spoke with general manager and took Pollard’s hotel registration information card.
Deputies believed the father and son were in a 2002 Nissan Altima with Virginia tags, VBU-1115.
Investigators in Hanover County still were trying to determine if Pollard would face criminal charges there.
