University of Maryland investigating and expelling Kappa Sigma frat member for racial email circulationA racist video scandal at the Oklahoma University has compelled the authorities to expel a freshman and sophomore member of its Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. So it is about time that the University of Maryland carries out some investigation and some clarifications on its fraternities as well.

Reports reveal an email which has been written by a fraternity member back in January 2014 has just emerged last week and has been seen by admin officials for the first time on Tuesday.

The email was composed by a Kappa Sigma fraternity member and had been sent out to 6 more University of Maryland students. The email contained racial slurs about Asians and Indian women.

The email read as: “Regardless of the rush shirt let’s get rachet as f*** during rush week. My d**k will be sucked and f***ed in compound basement whether you guys like it or not. Don’t invite any n****r gals or curry monsters or slanted eye chicks, unless they’re hot. Ziggy you’re [sic] girl can come she’s cool. Remember by n***as erect, assert, and insert, and above all else, f*** consent … d**ks untouched.”

Wallace Loh, the president of the University of Maryland found the email extremely vulgar and has said so in a statement which was released on Thursday. He stated that the content of the email demonstrated are reprehensible to the campus communities. He has also said that the institution’s officials had encountered the writer of the email and there is an investigation is going on currently.

Apart from the involved student, Loh said he was also in communication with the fraternity which had by now commenced on taking action by asking for educational training in respect to all Kappa Sigma fraternity members.

Derald Dryman, the fraternity’s Director of PR has said that at the time of the email being sent, the email writer was an undergrad member of the fraternity. He also confirmed that the student has been suspended from Kappa Sigma subsequent to the exposure of the email. Dryman also mentioned that even though the student had quit the brotherhood, Maryland authority is preparing a formal expulsion for him from the brotherhood.
