Khabib Nurmagomedov makes a comeback at UFC 187 and believes the title is within his grasp

Khabib Nurmagomedev, the UFC lightweight with an unbeaten record of 22-0 in MMA and 6-0 in UFC, believes that he has once again reached the point that he was at when his knee gave way and his career flat lined. The fighter from Dagestan recently told interviewers that he was back at full fitness and was doing everything. Whether it is was boxing or wrestling, he was doing it all. He even invited people to watch his sparring. He said that he’s now at the same level he was at before getting injured.

The one thing he was now looking forward to was a fight. In the coming month, he’s going to get just what he asked for. He was going to face Donald Cerrone (with an impressive record of 27-6 in MMA and 14-3 in UFC) before his injury put him on the sidelines and he will now be taking him on at UFC 187 on the 23rd of May at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

But the lightweight division is nothing like what it was when he left. Now there is a new champ, Rafael dos Anjos and he had proved his dominance against his previous opponent, Anthony Pettis during UFC 185.

Nurmagomedov defeated Dos Anjos in his last fight before getting injured and that is why he believes the road to the title is going to be a short one. “I think a lot of people understand now who the best fighter in the world,” said Nurmagomedov. “Rafael dos Anjos is now the UFC lightweight champion, but one year ago, I dominated him.” I think I am the champion. I think he is a fake champion - like Pettis before.”

The winner of the Cerrone, Nurmagomedov fight is most probably going to get a shot at the title, so there is no better opportunity for him to prove his worth.
