Minneapolis St. Paul Airport police officers have shot a suspect in the parking ramp of the airport at around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday. The suspect who was had been shot was injured and taken to the hospital immediately for medical attention.
According to the police officers, they have responded to a call about 2 suspicious people in a Hertz rental car that had been on level 2 of the parking vamp of the Lindbergh Terminal. Following the incident, the rental car area of the airport has been blocked following the incident as the scene is under investigation.
When asked on comments on the incident, the airport spokesperson Patrick Hogan stated to the Star Tribune that they had no details as to why the police had been looking for the suspected individuals and what led to shooting at the airport parking arena. It had been known to the airport authorities that the suspect had been uncooperative upon the approach of the police. The rest followed when one of the suspects had been shot. The condition of the injured suspect is unheard of and the names and identities of the suspect had not been released yet.
The incident had occurred on the second day of the ongoing protest of the Minneapolis airport by Sun County Airlines pilots. They had been demanding a higher wage and had claimed to be the lowest paid Boeing 737 pilots amongst the other large airlines.
If the two incidents are correlated is still not known. The airport police are being assisted by the Hennepin County Crime Lab for conducting the investigation.
