The latest WWE pay-per-view, Extreme Rules concluded last night and some of the results were shocking. This just goes to show that the WWE is trying really hard to get people interested once again. I liked it. Even without big names like Brock Lesnar or Daniel Bryan at the PPV, the show still had a large audience and the superstars that did wrestle, did a terrific job. So let’s take a look at the results.
The lunatic fringe, Dean Ambrose, has not won anything significant since early 2014 when he was a part of The Shield and even though there were no titles on the line, he did manage to impress the crowd with his performance against Luke Harper. He picked up the victory and hopefully this is a sign of good things to come from the WWE.
Being a replacement for Daniel Bryan is something that no WWE superstar would ever want to be. After all, he’s the people’s favorite right? The odds were stacked against Neville from the beginning and even though this match was moved to the pre-show, considering Neville has hardly spent any time in the WWE, he did manage to put on a terrific show against Bad News Barrett and picked up the victory.
There were some impressive matches between Dolph Ziggler and Sheamus and the New Day and Tyson Kidd & Cesaro. Ziggler picked up the win in his match while the New Day (Big E and Kofi Kingston) won the Tag Team titles with a little help from Xavier Woods.
The Cena vs Rusev match was pretty much what we had seen at Wrestlemania with the only difference being that instead of pinning Rusev after an Attitude Adjustment, he dragged him to all four corners of the ring.
Nikki Bella was able to retain her title against Naomi with help from her sister Brie who kicked Naomi while the referee was distracted.
The only purpose behind the Last Man Standing match between Roman Reigns and the Big Show was to prove that Reigns isn’t down and out. Reigns took a beating like only he could and kept getting right back up. Reigns definitely proved he belongs right up there with the best and hopefully in the month’s to come he will get his shot.
The main event, Randy Orton vs Seth Rollins had a lot of speculation floating around it? Will Kane interfere? Will he help Rollins or Orton? Rollins undoubtedly has some big shoes to fill as a successor to Brock Lesnar and he put on a terrific show at the pay-per-view. He had no trouble filling Brock’s shoes and considering he defeated the Viper, Randy Orton to retain his title, I see him having a long title reign ahead. Kane choke slammed everyone in the ring and outside before falling to an RKO from Rollins. Rollins then RKO’d Orton too before escaping the cage. A well-deserved victory is what it was.
